I have received a copy of 4.0.0.91 version of Blackberry Connect for Windows Mobile 6 Pro Edition. Special thanks goes to Steven :)

Here is the file:

http://sems.org/content/download/bbc4/BBConnect_WM6_Professional_BB_4.0.0.91.exe

I haven't tested it out yet, so I don't know what is new there, but it is a minor version difference.

Tried it on my WM6/vzw6700 and no luck yet. Waiting for that "magic" version to come out. :)

You should check with Verizon for a CDMA version. All versions posted here are GSM.

Posted by Sems on 10/24/2007 3:00:00 AM

Would this work on HP iPAQ 512 with WM6?

Posted by Subbu on 10/25/2007 3:00:00 AM

The above version is for Windows Mobile 6 Pro, where as your Ipaq 512 is a Windows Mobile 6 Standard, so you'll need to get the appropriate version, see:

does anyone know how to convert the 91 file in to a cab file that i can store on sd card on my device

many thanks

steven

Posted by steven on 10/26/2007 3:00:00 AM

Cab file should be under a folder in c:\program files\research in motion

Simply find and copy it.

Or be lazy, get it at:

http://sems.org/content/download/bbc4/BBConnect_WM6_Professional_BB_4.0.0.91.cab

I did it for you :)

Ok, I'm a newbie here, but have been doing some research. I need someone to confirm a few things for me please?

It appears with the BB Connect for WM 6.0 Pro I should be able to get an AT&T Treo 750 to do BB connect. Is this correct?

Originally in my searches it seemed as though the only Treo that would do it was the 750v, but with the advent of the new BB Connect SW this has changed.

Can anyone confirm this for me please? I really love BB mail (via BES) but want 3G connectivity.

Posted by Jacquie Gardner (email) on 10/27/2007 3:00:00 AM

Yes, 99% of them leave the cab file on your PC. I have seen a few, where they would not use a cab file or generate, copy and delete a cab file. I keep my cab files on my storage card all the time with me, so after a hard reset or if i need to reinstall something, I don't need a pc.

Drochin, i don't have a touch, but I have read on xda-developers.com people had success with 90. But it might be dependent on the ROM version, so check their forums and see what people are using.

Jacquie, that is correct, provided you upgraded 750 to WM6. Treo 750 and 750v are same thing (v is for Vodafone, just branding). Also of course, you need to have Blackberry or Blackberry connect activated in your account.

So, I managed to be connected to HSDPA/3G/GPRS/EDGE using the BBConnect app. Using the version posted here, 4.0.0.91

The type of connection keeps on changing though.

However, browsing (with WiFi off) is such a pain.

And I'm not sure why the there seems to be a timer when I click the Connectivity Icon on the taskbar. Counting up. Blackberry (3G).

I'm using Rogers' Wireless.

Posted by Evan Hindra (email) on 10/29/2007 3:00:00 AM

Hmm.. BBConnect seemed to be working just fine now.

I'm able to receive emails. I sent service books from the browser. (opened up BBConnect, tapped on Email Settings, fooled around with the site, and then I went to Service Books, sent it).

Posted by Evan Hindra (email) on 10/29/2007 3:00:00 AM

Depending on the device, the browsing can be a pain. With a HTC Excalibur, I was able to connect to two APNs at the same time and it was beautiful. On a Tytn II, it can connect to only one, so if I connect to internet.com, it will suspend blackberry.net, or vice versa. And not all apps can use the blackberry.net APN, hence the problem.

Posted by Sems on 10/29/2007 3:00:00 AM

Tried on my treo 750v.
But not working i guess. The startup screen wont dissapear anymore.

Guess its time for a hard reset.

Posted by Blackherrie (email) on 11/5/2007 3:00:00 AM

If device crash on startup at windows screen you must install bbconnect on device memory. On Tytn ii it works like a charm. For me works with two APN.

Posted by chanur (email) on 11/14/2007 3:00:00 AM

Two apns connected at the same time? Wonder why mine didn't. Which Radio ROM are you running with? Which device ROM? (you can see them during the soft reset)

Posted by Sems on 11/15/2007 3:00:00 AM

I have tried both 4.0.0.84, 4.0.0.90 and 4.0.0.91 on my Treo 750 with no success.
It installs and starts fine but it fails to connect to the Blackberry infrastructure
I can use the same SIM card in a Blackberry terminal or in my SonyEricsson P1i smartphone without any problems so it is not the SIM service that fails.
Seems the BBC client has a problem setting up the apn in my Treo 750 (WM6.0 PRO)

Posted by Henrik (email) on 11/23/2007 3:00:00 AM

Anybody got BB Connect working on TYTN with WM6?

I'm on Rogers with the BB Connect Plan - but it doesn't provide me with the ip address.

Posted by simon (email) on 11/24/2007 3:00:00 AM

Who is providing the Blackberry Connect client for Windows Mobile? Is it RIM?
Seems almost everybody has problems using it, people crash their phones and spend hours of troubleshooting, who is to blame - is there no official support?

Posted by Henrik (email) on 11/26/2007 3:00:00 AM

According to my mobile operator provider, the default IP and port settings in the Blackberry Connect client is wrong. My device shows blackberry.net with IP 206.51.26.189 port 19781/19780 while my operator uses 206.51.26.198 port 19341/19340. How is this changed?? It is stored in a file under My Device\Application Data\RIM\BlackBerry\BlackBerryDB

Posted by Henrik (email) on 11/26/2007 3:00:00 AM

Henrik, RIM is providing the client to OEMs/Carriers. However, in many cases including yours, people are trying to use the software on an unsupported platform. If your carrier supports the device and the software, they are the ones to contact. The values you listed (206.51.26.189 port 19781/19780) are the defaults and I didn't need to change them with Rogers or AT&T. You can hexedit the file, but I am doubtful if it would work. Check with your provider to see if they provide a custom install file.

Simon, which version/s did you try? Which WM6 ROM are you using? I know many Tytn owners with no problems.

Posted by Sems on 11/26/2007 3:00:00 AM

Hi Sems,

I will use any flavour of WM6 ROM from xda-dev so that I can use BBConnect on the Rogers network.

With Schaps 4.01, I've tried BBC 0.91,0.90, 0.84 - I get a PIN format of 69xxxxxx - but I get no ip address. Do I need to try changing the AKU?

Posted by Simon (email) on 11/26/2007 3:00:00 AM

Hi Sems, thanks for your reply.
I tried hexediting the file (the file was actually named BBRegistrationInfo_bb.dll) but after this the BB Connect client does not start.
I guess I will just cross my fingers and hope that there will be a working version of the BBC for Palm Treo in the future. Br/Henrik

Posted by Henrik (email) on 11/27/2007 3:00:00 AM

Simon, check the xda-developers threads on Blackberry Connect, I believe a certain AKU number is required, and don't think simply changing via registry works. I don't have Tytn handy, so can't tell which ROM would work.

Henrik, I hope Palm will release a supported version, it is a shame that they don't support WM6. If I find anything of use, I'll pass it on.

Posted by Sems on 11/27/2007 3:00:00 AM

I tested the 4.0.0.91 on a HTC Kaiser.
After I uninstall it, the Pocket IE not work, could not connect to the internet. The weather and som apps are working. How could I restore w/o hard reset?

Posted by Sancho (email) on 11/27/2007 3:00:00 AM

Oh, sorry. I found it:

"You can modify the registry key 'EnableAutoDetect' key found in the registry location:
[hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows\curre ntversion\internet settings'>

The default setting (that uses the proxy) is:
"EnableAutoDetect"=dword:00000000

(To disable proxy) Change it to:
"EnableAutoDetect"=dword:00000001

The best option is to delete the registry key (which I did) since some posts indicate this registry option gets set to 0 after a reset."

Thank you! :)

May i know please what is the latest version of Blackberry Connect for Pocket PC?

thanks, Danny D

Posted by Danny (email) on 11/28/2007 3:00:00 AM

The latest I have found is 4.0.0.91. Keep in mind, some minor changes may be designed for certain carriers, so if latest don't work, try others.

Hi:
i have version 84 running ok on my TyTN II, but only in areas WITHOUT 3G (in Argentina there are only to cities with 3G)... I don´t know why, but it connects to BB server ONLY if I have a GPRS o EDGE signal...If i enter an area with 3G, the EDGE/GPRS connection falls, and the device starts connecting to 3G, but without success...
Can you help me?
Thanks a lot!

Posted by Hugo on 11/29/2007 3:00:00 AM

What is your radio version? Did you try another?

Sems:
can you explain me that, please? I am not sure what do you mean... Sorry...
Thanks again!

Posted by Hugo on 12/2/2007 3:00:00 AM

Your device has a radio hardware (for GSM) and it has its own firmware, which is software updatable. Its version can affect connectivity. During the software reset, you can see it on the bottom, something like 1.27.11.11. There might be an update that will fix the issue.

Posted by Sems on 12/2/2007 3:00:00 AM

Sems:
the radio version is 1.27.12.11. Is it all right? How can i update it?
Thaks a lot

Posted by Hugo on 12/3/2007 3:00:00 AM

The version seems ok, it is the initial release and I have no problems with it. But I am in Toronto, your carrier may not be supporting 3G on Blackberry APN.

On a side note, to update the radio, you can download it at http://forum.xda-developers.com/ and run the setup. Take a look at Kaiser Upgrading section.

For some reason BB creates a new 'system' account in the messaging application. Meanwhile, due to some new installation, I have 2 'system' accounts and another 'system1' account. Do you know how to get rid of that?

Posted by Wookie (email) on 12/5/2007 3:00:00 AM

You can go to Messaging, click on the account and select delete from the Menu or you can edit the registry.

Posted by Sems on 12/5/2007 3:00:00 AM

Can anyone tell me how to configure the BB Connect database to be stored on a memory card as opposed to the internal memory? Managed to get it working on HTC P3300 with WM6 and BBC 4.0.91. Works well but just struggling on internal memory.

Tks

Posted by paul (email) on 1/2/2008 3:00:00 AM

Sorry, but the BBC can only be installed to main memory (by design). I haven't seen anyone successfully running it from memory card, plus the documentation tells you to use main memory.

What is the trigger to get 4.0.0.91 running on P3300 under WM6.1? I am struggling with all different versions, but go pretty far with .91. Please help!

Posted by TomTest (email) on 2/6/2008 3:00:00 AM

I have a UBIQUIO 503G running windows mobile 6 professional. and i tried to install blackberry connect on the phone. the software installed with no problems but when it goes to connect all it keeps saying is network avaliable and i dont get a pin. All i see is the IMEI and no IP address.

i tried installing blackberry connect 4.0.0.90 and 4.0.0.91 and also 4.0.0.92 and its the same issue.

How can i get this to work correctly? i have a blackberry plan on my account already for personal email. any help would be great. thanks

Posted by Frank on 2/10/2008 3:00:00 AM

Unfortunately, I haven't managed to get it work on Ubiquio either. It is a combination of rom version, aku version, device name/type and carrier. Some combinations work, some won't. It is a hit and miss.

Posted by Sems on 2/12/2008 3:00:00 AM

but i wounder what it could be that it's not connecting. I wounder if its the ROM settings like you said. it could be the radio version also that is not compatable with it either.

I hope someone gets it to work on UBIQUIO because its an awsome phone too.

what settings do you think will work for it on T-Mobile USA? that will work??

Posted by Frank on 2/12/2008 3:00:00 AM

Can't help much there. Since you cannot alter the ROM, you can't change device type and that's one of the main cause of the problems. AKU version can be changed via registry, but don't think that will help, with proper device type info coming from ROM.

Do you know whether tere is a chance to download attachments larger than 32 kB? I read about a restriction for BB devices 850/870 but it seems also be true for BB connect users.

Posted by Tom (email) on 3/3/2008 3:00:00 AM

I can download attachments bigger than 32 KB on BB Connect and BB Curve. I am using a BES server 4.1.4 version. Are you using BES or BIS?

Posted by Sems on 3/4/2008 3:00:00 AM

We are using BES. Currently it seems to be a restriction of BB connect. Do you have other information for non-Blackberry devices?

Posted by Tom (email) on 3/5/2008 3:00:00 AM

The only article I can find is related to Sony Ericsson P910.

For Pocket PC - 4.0 User guide specifies:

"You can download the attachment to view (and sometimes edit) the attachment in the application in which the document was originally created, if that application is available on your Pocket PC. Your server specifies a limit on the size of attachments that you can download."

So you might want to check the IT Policy on your BES, it might be restricting the size.

Posted by Sems on 3/7/2008 3:00:00 AM

Well, the only settings for attachments on the BES I found is for max. conversion sizes of different doc types. However, thank you for your research.

First, very childish to post 3 comments within 6 minutes with different names. If you are in such a hurry, check other sites, instead of comment bombing (plus reading an article about netiquete and all caps should help too).

I'd recommend checking HTC Cruiser forums at xda-developers.com. I don't have a unit, so I can't tell.

Posted by Sems on 4/28/2008 3:00:00 AM

When connected to BES server with the HTC phone, does this generate extra costs compared with the Black Berry devices or is it the same?
