Blackberry Connect 4.0.0.90 / Windows Mobile 6 Pro

There is a slightly newer version of Blackberry Connect 4.0, which is 4.0.0.90, and it is for Windows Mobile 6 Professional and Windows Mobile 5 Pocket PC Phone Edition. People claim it works with HTC D810 (HTC Trinity) official rom. I have tried it on my HTC P3600 (same thing), with D810 ROM on it and connection still fails. But you might be luckier. Give it a shot.

Hi Sems, I tried to search for a connection named Blackberry, but without any success.

The registry entries for Blackberry are:

HKLM\Software\Research In Motion\Blackberry
HKLM\Software\Apps\Blackberry Service
HKLM\Security\AppInstall\Blackberry Service
HKLM\Security\AppInstall\Blackberry Service\ExecutableFiles

I tried to create a new connection named Blackberry by the manual procedure, inserting gprs parameters. But, this new one in not visible by the BB setup procedure.
I'm desperate!
Thank you again.

Moreover the key having provider information should be the follow:

HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{...}\Connections

Another question: what is the value to eventually un-hide the connection (this is not my case because I have no connection named Blackberry).

Sems I have the log file of installation. In my opinion something is wrong (I have a good knowledge because I'm an IT Security engineer). Should I send it to you? If yes pls. send me an e-mail in order to send it to you. Thank you, Alessandro

Also, did you by any chance try to hard reset the device and setup from scratch?

Hi Guys:

I upgraded my HTC TyTN to the official WM 6 ROm from HTC and now my blackberry connect software does not work!!! The history is as follows:

The original WM 5 worked fine using BBConnect: bbconnect_pocketpc_bb_4.0.0.67.zip that I picked up from another discussion on sems.org.

On upgrading to WM6 everything went haywire. The setting for the internet browser did not work, all messages pushed to the device came in as System ( I am using BIS)hence I wam unable to reply or even compose a message.

I check with USA customer support for HTC and I was told that BBConnect does not work right now with WM6; a version of BBConnect that is compatible will be release by RIM in September (agony till then).

If anyone has a different experience or can shed some light how to get BBConnect on WM6 to work, please drop me a line...Thanks

Hey Guys:

I solved my own problem. The solution is as follows:

The install for the BBConnect went well. PIN and IMEI recognised and device registered with the network, messgae from system sent to confirm registration. Next, from the PC log onto the Blackberry Account Manager that was provided by you service provider, mine was <service provider>.blackberry.com. Go to service books and hit button to resend service books.

Once this is done all the different accounts will be listed in the messaged section, eg.:

+ email.serviseprovider1.com
+ email.serviceprovider2.com
+ Outlook
+ MMS
+ System
+ Text Messages
+ POP3................................etc, etc

The only problem with the install is that the blackberry browser could not be configured by the software.

I worked around that by creating a new GPRS connection and since I have an unlimited data plan, just enter the APN and username etc. BBConnect will be disabled one you use the GPRS connection and be reactivated once the radio is out of use.

I hope this helps

Hi Sems,

just to share with you guys some impresions. I have a HTC TyTN and I just upgraded it to WM6 Rom (Official ROM from HTC in English). I then tried to install BBC 4.0. I tried the new version from this page as well as the old version (4.0.0.17). In both cases I had problems like two or more Blackberry Inboxes and difficulties sending mails. I am kind of dissapointed because because my TyTN used to work well with BBC 4.0 and WM5. Any ideas about my multiple inbox folders? Has anybody really succeeded wit BBC 4.0 and WM6?

Cheers

Juan

Posted by Juan (email) on 8/15/2007 3:00:00 AM

I used it for a brief period on my HTC P3600 (Trinity) and all was well, but I only used one BES account, no BIS. Similarly, I used it with HTC S621 and that was fine as well. Both were WM6. Are you using with BES or BIS or both Juan?

Posted by Sems on 8/15/2007 3:00:00 AM

I am using BES. I could not modified the e-mail settings (out of office tab, etc) Could my problem be related to the fact that I tried several times and overloaded the BES?

Thanks

Juan

Posted by Juan (email) on 8/15/2007 3:00:00 AM

Maybe a setting on your account got corrupt. Have your BES admin remove your account (and select yes to remove your Blackbery settings from your mailbox) and add you back. Also make sure they are running latest BES (we are using 4.1 SP4)

Posted by Sems on 8/16/2007 3:00:00 AM

You are probably on the right track. I'll ask the IT people to try your suggestion. Thanks a million.

Juan

PS: they are not running the latest BES...

Are you running wm5 or 6 on your Treo? Did you try 4.0.0.84 instead? I had mixed results with 84 and 90, some worked with 84, some with 90. All were wm6.

Posted by Sems on 9/28/2007 3:00:00 AM

i tried all the versions on my HTC Touch with WM6 Pro.. no success at all.

once installed, the device reboots.. and never completes the reboot process at all. keeps showing me the green screen with the WM6 logo on it. had to thrash everything and begin from scratch.

Posted by Shaun (email) on 9/29/2007 3:00:00 AM

I haven't seen Blackberry Connect locking up after first reboot before. I am presuming you are installing the software right after hard reset and nothing else (other than defaults) is installed? You can try to check the BB Installer logs, before the reset and see if any errors are listed there.

Posted by Sems on 10/1/2007 3:00:00 AM

i've installed it fine on my HTC touch running WM6 Pro. then it requires a reboot.

once i get to the green screen.. it locks up. can't do anything about.. not even get to the logs. i can still receive calls though..

anyway, i've gotten in touch with HTC tech support. they have no ideas either. how nice.

Posted by shaun (email) on 10/2/2007 3:00:00 AM

Before clicking ok, or right after the installation, you should be able to connect the device to your desktop and access the log files.

Also make sure to install into main memory, not storage card.

Posted by Sems on 10/2/2007 3:00:00 AM

aha... u might have something there. i install everything on storage card... alright will give it a try. then give me your mailing address.. if it works, i'll send u a cake!! :)

Posted by shaun (email) on 10/2/2007 3:00:00 AM

Lol, one step at a time, I'll keep my fingers crossed, as I love cakes though ;)

Posted by Sems on 10/2/2007 3:00:00 AM

IT WORKED!! oh my goodness.. that was it. install the bloody thing into main memory!!! ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!
no problems registering my device.. and email and all that. everything worked first time.

CAKES for everyone!!

FYI: i'm on HTC Touch, with WM6 Pro using 4.0.0.90 cab version

Posted by shaun (email) on 10/3/2007 3:00:00 AM

ok.. small problem with the push mail.
new emails don't come in automatically... i have to sync my mailbox manually.
is there a timer setting somewhere?

any ideas, anyone?

Posted by shaun (email) on 10/3/2007 3:00:00 AM

Are we talking about a BIS or BES account? If it is BES, on which platform?

Mails should come in automatically, as long as you are connected to the Blackberry network. If you are using other APNs, depending on your device, during that connection, it will suspend Blackberry APN, causing emails wait. On a S621, never had an issue, on a Tytn II, when I use my ISPs internet apn, blackberry service always suspends, saying radio is in use.

Posted by Sems on 10/3/2007 3:00:00 AM

Hello,
Has anyone tried this on the HTC 4350? As that is the phone available from work.
Thanks

Posted by Iain (email) on 10/3/2007 3:00:00 AM

I am using Blackberry client v4.0.0.90 with my trinity and WM5. Works pretty fine except for the attachments.

I am only able to download and open quite small attachments with less than 30k size. Creation of attachments is also only possible up to that size. Larger attachments are not aloud, neither for download nor for creation.
Is there a way to change that? I cannot believe that it should not be possible to handle larger attachments.

Posted by Uli (email) on 10/3/2007 3:00:00 AM

The allowed attachment sizes are handled on the server end, so if you are using a BES server, contact your admin. I have opened over 600Kb size attachments (PDF files).

Steven,

After BB4, are you activating any accounts via BIS or BES? Did you try to use Internet Browser or Blackberry Browser?

Posted by Sems on 10/13/2007 3:00:00 AM

Hi Guys,

I found out - after several attempts I noticed that if you don't have an active and open GPRS connection BB will not install correct and will keep seing the antenna as off. But if you make sure GPRS is active, BB will see the server and happily install and allow you to activate etc.

Thanks
Niels

Posted by Niels (email) on 10/14/2007 3:00:00 AM

That's strange, but glad it worked out for you. I had problems with Internet connection once upon a time with S621, and had to install BB4 after a hard reset, with no other connections defined and it worked like a charm. With that experience, when I installed it on my Tytn II, had no issues there with no GPRS. I guess it may be dependent on the OS, platform, etc.

Posted by Sems on 10/14/2007 3:00:00 AM

HI Sems,
thanks for the reply,

after instaling bb4 i am activating using BIS. I am trying to use Internet explorer where would blckberry browser be

sometimes under tools it says something about disable blackberry browsing but only when i go through the blackberry program

if i try to go to a url it says denied. i then load up ie and it does not says disable browsing.

some posts say that bb takes over ie and i should try to use mini opera.

any views

greatly appreciated.

steven

Posted by steven (email) on 10/14/2007 3:00:00 AM

Blackberry Browser is available if you activate against a BES server. If you activate against BIS, you'll have Internet Browser, which should be under Blackberry folder in Programs.

If you still have issues, try installing BB4 as the first thing after a hard reset.

Posted by Sems on 10/14/2007 3:00:00 AM

sems,

thanks for the reply
i have not reinstalled bb 4 yet but i believe in the blackberry folder there were two icons one referred to email setup and the other takes you in to bb program
when i tried to run any sited through that it would give an error saying denied.

i am using through bis

Lord British

Posted by Lord British (email) on 10/15/2007 3:00:00 AM

Steven, the Internet Browser icon should appear in Blackberry folder, after a successful BIS activation. You can check the list of your service books in Blackberry Connect, to see if Internet browsing service book is there. If not, your carrier's BIS site should have an option to send service books.

To my knowledge BBC does not disable IE, rather it enforces to use a proxy. There is a registry setting for IE, I'll find it out later on today for you. It will disable the automatic proxy. Or like you said for Wifi, you can use Opera, Opera Mini, etc.

I am trying to decipher your first comment post. Can you elaborate?

Please see my previous comment, I alread explained, you need to activate via BIS to get Internet Browser. Till that time, Blackberry folder will not have its icon.

As for the registry settings, I think it was under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings, but I can't remember the exact key, as I don't have BBC installed, i don't have that key on my device.

Posted by Sems on 10/15/2007 3:00:00 AM

hi sems,

in the blackberry folder i only have two icons ons says blackberry security the other says email settings i have activated through BIS but i dont have an icon for blackberry browser. however when i open email settings this opens blackberry browser i think. it opens up the email settings page of blackberry.orange.co.uk

it will allow access to that page but not any other site. it says aceess denied to eg www.google.co.uk :80

when you say activate bis what do you mean as i am receiving emails and under services setting it has the blackberry browser showing.

concerning the keys are you saying i should remove the key or add a key- any idea where i might look for this key.

my service provider is saying that i should be able to browsethe net.

sorry about the length of this.

steven

Posted by steven (email) on 10/16/2007 3:00:00 AM

Blackberry Browser should appear after a BES activation, not BIS. With BIS, it should be Internet Browsers. And yes, activation means you have connected to the BIS server, exchanged info, and your emails are flowing.

Concerning keys, here is what I dig up:

"You can modify the registry key 'EnableAutoDetect' key found in the registry location:
[hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows\curre ntversion\internet settings'>

The default setting (that uses the proxy) is:
"EnableAutoDetect"=dword:00000000

(To disable proxy) Change it to:
"EnableAutoDetect"=dword:00000001

The best option is to delete the registry key (which I did) since some posts indicate this registry option gets set to 0 after a reset."

Sems good evening. I hope youll have a moment to review this and offer assistance.I have the tytn II pro and installed bb connect and emails come in fine via the bes server in our office. HOWEVER ever since I installed it, i have problems connecting to the internet via the IE or the BB explorer. It simply states radio in use and wont go further. It makes it sound like its one or the other; receive email or browse the web.. thats it.

Can you help to solve this problem for me. SPENT ALL day on the phone w Tmobile...no help whatsoever. Thank you very much!!! Michael

Posted by Michael (email) on 10/16/2007 3:00:00 AM

After BES activation, you should have a Blackberry Browser (unless it is disabled by your IT guys) in Programs - Blackberry folder. Use that to browse the web, it utilizes MDS on BES and connects fine.

Sems firstly thank you for answering.

1. I do have BB browser, but it too claims it cant send multiple requests to the server. If mail isnt suspended it will not access internet.

2. IT advised me to KNOCK it out and start all over again for the 3rd time. They now ask me to install it via active sync instead of wireless BUT the program isnt recogized by active sync...

any help? Thanks very very much!!

Posted by michael.kaplan1 on 10/17/2007 3:00:00 AM

Hi Sems,

Thanks for all your help

I deleted the registry entry which allowed me to browse over gprs using internet explorer.

Only problem was that each time i connected on to GPRS it kicked off the blackberry connection

Had a look in Blackberry Folder under programs and a new icon has appeared called Blackberry Internet Browsing Service" tried that and it allows me to browse the net without using GPRS and using Blackberry.

So far so good and you are a star - is there any way I can get windows Live Messenger to connect through blackberry as opposed to GPRS in the same way that I can browse the net then I will have a perfect solution

By the way has anyone tried BB Connect on Kaiser or tytyn II

thanks for all your help

Steven

Steven hi there. Can you advise how to delete the registry.Im going way crazy here and havent a clue to start to solve my problem from above posting. thank you!!!

Posted by michael.kaplan1 on 10/17/2007 3:00:00 AM

Yes, Steven, it should make IE work with Wifi or regular GPRS. And yes, Tytn II works fine with BBC, you can see it at HTC US or AT&T wireless sites (also I used it as well). Glad it worked out for you. I believe you can't make Live Messenger work through BIS proxy. But there might be a registry setting I am not aware of.

Michael,

1. Ensure you have no other apps running, if it won't work without suspending Blackberry service, then it is not using MDS, it is trying to connect via regular Internet APN.

2. Can you elaborate what do you mean by "install it via active sync instead of wireless"? Are they saying you should run the PC installer? Or are they saying install BBC, then use the desktop application to activate it.

You can try that. I have seen best results after a hard reset, install BBC cab, then wired or wireless activation.

As for the registry, download Resco File Explorer, along with its Registry component (www.resco-net.com) or use Total Commander (www.ghisler.net, download the latest beta). Both support editing registry. Finally you can use a desktop utility, such as Mobile Registry Editor (http://www.breaksoft.com/Blog/Utilities/2005/1/Mobile_Registry_Editor.aspx)

how can i upload it

it is bb connect
BBConnect_WM6_Professional_BB_4[1'>.0.0.91

steven

Posted by steven (email) on 10/19/2007 3:00:00 AM

First, download the 4.0.0.84 - http://sems.org/content/download/bbc4/o2-Terra-BBConnect_WM6_Professional_BB_4.0.0.84.cab

The 90 version did not work for me. Then once you have the cab file, simply use Active Sync to copy the file to your Tytn II, run File Explorer on the unit, find the cab click on it to run.

Another idea is to use Pocket Internet Explorer to download directly to the unit. Make sure to select Device Memory as install location, BBC4 won't work from a storage card.

Steven, you can email to sems at sems dot org, or upload to one of the free sites, like Rapidshare, Megaupload, etc. and send the URL to me. Then I can place it on the site. Where did you get the file by the way?

Anshuman, like Steven said, make sure you are not connected regular GPRS connection at the time. Most likely culprits are apps in the background, connected to regular GPRS, such as ActiveSync Direct Push.

When I click on register, the 'E' indicating Edge connection comes on, in the status window I get - Network Available and then Data Tunnel Available - but thereafter it goes back to 'Not Connected' and 'E' also vanishes.
Thus I dont get any PIN either.

Can you please help.
Thanks

Guys,
Also can you please advise how many email accounts can be configured to work with the BBC 4.0 on Tytn II? Is there any limit? HTC Asia (asia.htc.com) mentions that you can configure up to 3 accounts only. Is this true?

Posted by Anshuman Khanna (email) on 10/21/2007 3:00:00 AM

Steven, thanks for the file, sorry for a late reply, it was a busy weekend :)

It is posted at http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=272

Anshuman, please uninstall and install 4.0.0.84, 90 did not work for me either (or you can try 91 posted above, haven't tried it yet)

Grab 84 at:

http://sems.org/content/download/bbc4/o2-terra-bbconnect_wm6_professional_bb_4.0.0.84.cab

Yes, what HTC Asia refers is true. Blackberry Connect on Windows Mobile is limited to 3 email accounts on a BIS server.

Hello,

I recently upgraded my HTC P3600 from WM5 to WM6 and today, installed BBConnect_WM6_Pro_4.0.0.90, it installs, then generates a PIN, but I can't connect to create an account...I have the BB Connect service from my provider...is there anything I am doing wrong??? Is it an issue that can be resolved by installing 4.0.0.84 as it's mentionned above???

Thanks

Posted by Sherif on 10/23/2007 3:00:00 AM

In the options tab, under connection, when I click on Details, the APN is blackberry.net, would that be causing this? Should it be fido.blackberry.net instead?

Posted by sherif on 10/23/2007 3:00:00 AM

Possibility, certain versions don't work on certain devices (for example I had to use 84 on Tytn II, 90 didn't work).

Also, the APN is blackberry.net, there is no fido.blackberry.net apn to my knowledge.

Posted by Sems on 10/23/2007 3:00:00 AM

Is the PIN related to the IMEI on the BB Connect? I reinstalled and it keeps giving me the same PIN...I thought it generates one...Also, when I try to register through the device, it tells me the PIN is already used. However, the phone was purchased new and this is the first time I try...should I downgrade to WM5 in order to use BB Connect?

Posted by sherif on 10/23/2007 3:00:00 AM

PIN is generated, based on IMEI. You can contact your provider about PIN is already used error, it might be a problem on their end.

1. Soft reset?
2. Reenable plugins from Settings - Today?

Hi Sherif,

It is the probably AKU version listed in the ROM. Did you try to edit the reg settings?

See http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=273

Posted by Sems on 10/24/2007 3:00:00 AM

Hi Sems:
yes, after the soft resets, its still the same.
When i go to Settings - Today, there are no elements to click... The list "Elements" is empty.
I have read that perhaps is a problem of version 84...
What else can i do?

Posted by steven (email) on 10/24/2007 3:00:00 AM

you wouldn't happen to have a Resco version handy so I can download it?

Posted by sherif on 10/24/2007 3:00:00 AM

Sems,

I reinstalled everything from scratch...WM6 is now running on ROM udK 6.1 Lizard, I installed Resco Registry editor, modified it as explained to 0.4.2 then installed BBC 4.0.0.84, then still cannot register...any ideas as to what could be happening?

I even tried to revert back to original WM5 and installed BBC, but same issue...don't understand how come it works on Trinity and D810 for other people but not for me!!!

Posted by sherif on 10/24/2007 3:00:00 AM

Hugo,

If you are familiar with Windows Mobile Registry, you can check the Today related registry entries. Another idea is to try different versions, 67, 84, 90 and 91 is available through this site.

Steven,

Good to see you :), I use 84, as 90 did not work for me and didn't try 91 yet.

Sherif,

You can always get a 30 day trial cabs from resco-net.com site. As for BBC4, it checks different items in the registry/ROM, so it is generally a hit and miss. I have seen it working fine for two weeks on my Trinity, then it stopped working. People have rumored that RIM is blocking PIN numbers, after certain time, if their device is not listed by their carrier, and I believe that may be the main culprit.

On xda-developers.com forums, many people swear by 90 working for them, maybe you can find a firmware there known to work fine with BBC4.

Posted by Sems on 10/25/2007 3:00:00 AM

sems i have got 91 to work the problem was the sim card had not been updated on the orange network with BIS activation you need to have the imei and the pin and them card number all registered that way they are able to prevent licence fraud

sems how can i create a cab from the 91 version to put on my device

thanks

steven

Posted by steven on 10/25/2007 3:00:00 AM

Once you have installed the software, you should have the cab file on your desktop, look under c:\program files\research in motion folder.

After being prompted with

"The internet connection is currently in use by the Blackberry browser. Would you like to temporarily disable BlackBerry browsing?"
[yes'> [no'>

I went to restart my device (TyTN II, running clean ROM, factory default) because an installer wanted me to. I wasn't sure which option it chose, but it seems like it's on NO (since it has this thicker black border than YES).

After I booted back on, I can't browse the web using PocketIE any longer. It would show up the progress bar for a split second, but nothing actually loads.

Sems, any pointer?!

Posted by Evan Hindra (email) on 10/30/2007 3:00:00 AM

Simply disable the proxy in IE or use Blackberry Browser link.

"You can modify the registry key 'EnableAutoDetect' key found in the registry location:
[hkey_current_user\software\microsoft\windows\curre ntversion\internet settings'>

The default setting (that uses the proxy) is:
"EnableAutoDetect"=dword:00000000

(To disable proxy) Change it to:
"EnableAutoDetect"=dword:00000001

The best option is to delete the registry key (which I did) since some posts indicate this registry option gets set to 0 after a reset."

hi, i have a HTC TYTN running win mobile 5. I'm on an orange subscription. i've installed the bb4.0.0.90. But it does not get recognised on the Orange network !!
do i have the wrong version -or- am i doing something wrong. The orange site does not seem to register the device either at http://www.blackberry.orange.fr/

Posted by fr chap (email) on 11/9/2007 3:00:00 AM

Try an older version, .84 and 90 is for WM6 devices mainly (or you can flash your Tytn to WM6 first).

Posted by Sems on 11/9/2007 3:00:00 AM

I am using the t-mobile wing with WM6 and it installs perfectly, shows me the IMEI number but has Pending on the PIN and No connection in IP address? Any thoughts on that?

Thanks

Please do read the comments on different Blackberry Connect posts. BBC4 is picky with device rom, carrier and device model. You can try a different version than 90.

Hi Everyone. I recently acquired a HTC Touch Dual and got the blackberry connect software 4.0.0.90 to load and install on the phone. Now the identity tab of the software it shows the IMEI and nothing under the IP address and PIN. PIN actually says pending. What do I have to do to get the BB to work? I have a BIS account which I have been able to use all of my unlocked Nokias that I have placed the BB software on. The Touch Dual is as close as I can get to a perfect phone with etensive capabilities. How do I get this pin generated on this unit? SEM do you have any ideas what my problem may be. Please help

Posted by Jay (email) on 11/23/2007 3:00:00 AM

BBC 4 is a hit and miss Jay. It is dependant on ROM version, device model and carrier.

With that said, try different versions, for example .90 does not work on my HTC Kaiser, whereas .84 is just fine.

Posted by Sems on 11/26/2007 3:00:00 AM

Version 92 is out:

Thx Michael. I'll update the downloads post I have with the proper cab. Can you tell which provider it was from and its url, so I can keep tabs on them :)

Posted by Sems on 12/3/2007 3:00:00 AM

I have an 8525 which my company just installed the "bbconnect_wm6_pro_4.0.0.90.cab" on. Thing is, I LOVED the 8525 like it was. It was connected to our Outlook Exhange server and e-mails worked perfectly. Now since the "migration", I have two e-mail devices (my laptop and the 8525) to keep up with now since the 8525 is emulating a Blackberry and won't delete e-mail from my server when I remove it from the 8525.

Another annoying issue is having to unlock the thing every 30 minutes. I can't see going back to how it used to be, but removing the Blackberry "lock" (read "annoyance") would help me from giving the thing back to them, as it's nearly useless as it sits.

Posted by emcstnative (email) on 12/18/2007 3:00:00 AM

You might want to check your email reconciliation options. Technically, if email reconciliation is enabled, BB Connect will delete messages from the server, if they are deleted from the device.

As for the lock, if your company is not enforcing password lock via IT Policies sent to your BB Connect, you can disable it. If they are, you'll have to talk to your IT dept.

Posted by Sems on 12/19/2007 3:00:00 AM

Just to report that I am using Blackberry Connect 4.0.0.92 in my HTC Touch XL (Elfin) with Blue ELFin ROM V2.01 and it works perfectly.

BES here.

I have an 8525 which had Goodlink that worked great with our company's server, Outlook and everything else (Tasks, Contacts, etc.). Our MIS department had to migrate it to a 'fake Blackberry' and now its just flat out worthless. Nothing syncs and it takes FOREVER to do anthing with the device now. I hate it. Give me Goodlink and a PDA any day over a Crack-berry.

Make sure to read all the instructions. You might need to update your bootloader first. Be careful, as you might brick your device.

Hi,

I have Blackberry Connect 4.0.0.86 installed on a HTC Kaiser (T-Mobile MDA Vario 3 - Germany) and everything works fine.
I only hate the security policy of my company that the device will lock every 15 minutes and you have to enter your password to unlock. You have to use your keyboard or the small soft keyboard. It would be better to get a big 10 number display on the screen to enter a number password.

Does anyone know what changes have beed dont to the new Blackberry Connect 4.0.0.90. What are the changes between 4.0.0.86 and 4.0.0.90?

Erik

Posted by Erik (email) on 1/29/2008 3:00:00 AM

Hi,

me again. Found a note, that 4.0.0.92 is out. What's new in this version?
Where to get?

Erik

Posted by Erik (email) on 1/29/2008 3:00:00 AM

Unfortunately, the carrier pages I download these do not contain any "release notes". I looked at RIM's Knowledge Center and didn't see any there. Most of these releases are point releases and they support certain new devices.

FYI, .90 or .92 did not work with Kaiser for me. You can grab them at, http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=276

Where did you get .86 from? I used .84 on my Kaiser.

Posted by Sems on 1/29/2008 3:00:00 AM

Hi,

it's .84 (on my Kaiser), this was a misspelling, which I can't correct on this page.
If .90 and .92 will not work, I will not give them a try and save my time... Thanks for the info.

To get a better usability of the Blackberry password feature, I would like to have a 10 digit buttons on the blank page, to enter a number password. To use the alphabetic soft keyboard is to difficult and not comfortable.
I hoped that this will be add to the new features, but if they will not work on Kaiser device, I will not change my working blackberry connect.

Erik

Posted by Erik (email) on 1/31/2008 3:00:00 AM

Just for your info, I have been using successfully BB Connect (4.0.0.92) with my Elfin and Windows Mobile 6.0 pro.

However it does not work with Windows Mobile 6.1. I have tried with both the Blue and the Shadow cooked roms without success..

Best regards

Posted by Vintila on 2/12/2008 3:00:00 AM

Probably a new version is needed with 6.1 roms or they'll have to build the rom with lower version/aku numbers to make it compatible with BBC 4.0. Thanks for the info. :)

hi dears around..
i have htc-tytnII, i tried all versions that sems put.. and found the version 97 is working well , the email setup and browser also.. to use the bb browser you have to go to start - programs- blackberry folder - internet browser , you find it working.

i faced one problem that the messenger is not connecting with blackeberry network and always gives that have to disable the bb to connect with gprs..

hope you ppl find solution for that ...pLsssssssssss

Posted by paparazzi (email) on 4/2/2008 3:00:00 AM

I have seen people able to connect multiple APNs on WM6 devices, unfortunately none of the was using Tytn II (I did it myself with S620). Multiple APN connection is a feature of WM6, but not all the device radios support it, plus your carrier may block it as well.

You might give a try to a different messenger type application like IM+, which can connect to MSN network.

Posted by Sems on 4/4/2008 3:00:00 AM

I have the HTC touch and am trying to install BBconnect without success, tried the 90 and 103 versions of bb connect

First time i installed version 103 i got a pin number but not thereafter, why is that?

Posted by Yung (email) on 9/15/2008 3:00:00 AM

Your PIN/IMEI might have been blocked by RIM later on. You can try a different HTC Touch ROM and it might work. See the thread at http://www.sems.org/entry.asp?ENTRY_ID=276, there are some interesting solutions in the comments.

Posted by Sems on 9/15/2008 3:00:00 AM

Hi SEMS,

I upgraded my TyTN to WM6.1 (5.2.20273). Changed AKU to .0.7.0. Installed BBC 4.0.0.91. It installed smoothly & connected.

Then I activated the BES. It went on to Initializing Calendar & it got stuck there. Found that BBC (BlackberrySecurity & BlackBerryLog) services were stopped. The BBSettings.exe application also got killed. LEADING to partial/No-Synch.

Once I restart the services, everything comes to normal. Can see 3-4 old mails also. Can send mails out but can not receive any mail.

Can you help me...

Posted by Kumar (email) on 10/16/2008 3:00:00 AM

Kumar, are you still having troubles? One good idea is to do enterprise activation again. Also try sending the service books from BES, maybe there is a corrupt one.

I bought one year ago a HTC S620 and for http://www.vodafone.de/hilfe-support/blackberry/117676.html software for Blackberry Connekt installed. It works very well. I bought with that the new equipment HTC X7510 original. Unfortunately I cannot install Blackberry Connect software on equipment (http://www.vodafone.de/hilfe-support/blackberry/112010.html or http://www.htc.com/us/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=67&cat=all). An error message always comes (Service is not connected Enterprise activation will be pending until connected).
Which software can I use on the equipment??
Ask for assistance! If you still info need, please by email. Thanks
