Windows Mobile 6 for S621

Following up my article on "HTC S621 (HTC Excalibur) - available from Rogers", I picked a unit up today.

And to my surprise, it was SIM unlocked. I put in my Fido card and it worked like a charm.

On another note, T-Mobile has leaked Windows Mobile 6 and it is possible to install it on Rogers S621. While I take no responsibility, if you brick your phone, the details are as follows:

1. CID unlock your device. I used www.imei-check.co.uk. They work fast and reliable, best $40 spent.

2. Download the ROM - http://rapidshare.com/files/28455965/RUU_Excalibur_TMO_US_1.22.531.4_4.1.13.34_02.79.90_Ship.exe.html

3. Follow the instructions at:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1241882&postcount=54

One difference from the above list I had, when I ran the unlocker for the last time, the phone went to white screen, but the unlock failed. Right after that, I re-run the dash unlocker and voila, it is all good now :)

Time to play with my WM6 Smartphone...

Update: T-Mobile released the official ROM at http://www.t-mobileapps.com/downloadcenter/Software_List.cfm?selDevice=27

The file is identical to leaked ROM, so either use this or above link.

Unless Rogers has changed sth in last few weeks, their S621 is SIM unlocked (I used it with a Fido SIM, right after I bought the unit.

As for application unlocking the unit, I used the following steps:

1. Run HTC Unlock.
2. Run SDAUnlock
3. Run HTC Unlock one last time.

This proved to be fully app unlocking the unit. The files are at:

HTCUnlockInstaller.CAB
SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe

I can't get the links above to work.
I've tried downloading off T-Mobiles site but your need a valid T-Mobile number to get in.

Does anyone have a link to the working download?

Just tried the Rapidshare link, worked like a charm.
