It is the replacement for beloved UT Starcom 6700. The HTC P4000 (aka HTC Titan) can be bought directly at $549, or there is several contract options, bringing the price as low as $199 (which is very decent).

The unit feels like HTC Hermes (like HTC Tytn, Imate Jasjam, etc). There is some interesting design differences though.

- The keyboard slides out towards right
- There is a hardware button to enable/disable wifi, without going into Comm Manager.
- The keyboard has leds to show Shift or Function key presses.

Key points I see are:

- Windows Mobile 5: While it is a solid OS, with many devices being released with Windows Mobile 6, I wonder if Telus is planning the upgrade.

- Rev A capability: I don't know if it is built into the OS, or it will be rolled out as OS upgrade, but at least the hardware supports it. So once Telus rolls out EVDO Rev. A (the next generation of EVDO), the unit will be able to handle it, making it more future proof.

- ROM is whopping 256Mb, should leave you plenty of space. On my HTC X7500, I have over 115Mb. available space. This is the space where OS and your apps gets installed.

Once you get your unit, if you don't have an Microsoft Exchange account (for Direct Push), you can get a free one at live.mail2web.com. It is a great service and great way to compliment your device.

That's a strange issue. did you check msn live's settings on the device? You wouldn't logon to a different account, would you? i have multiple msn accounts, so I have to pay attention.

how do u get the wireless headset to initiate a phone call?

Posted by newbie on 3/17/2008 3:00:00 AM

Depends upon which headset you use, usually there is a call button, which in turn will initiate voice dialing software on the phone.
